# Man and Machine: The \#Overnight Build

![Man and Machine: The \#Overnight Build](/writing/man-and-machine/the-overnight-build/assets/hero.jpg)

My AI built an app while I was sleeping\.

I described what I wanted before bed\. A social media analytics dashboard\. Layout, features, data sources\. Took me about ten minutes\.

When I woke up, it was done\. Fully functional\. Built in six minutes\.

Not a mockup\. A working application with real data connections, charts, and filters\.

That same week, Katie (my financial analysis agent) built Phase 1 of a trading research system\. Also under six minutes\. Also, while I slept\.

This is the part that breaks people's brains\. We're used to "overnight" meaning a rushed sprint by a tired team\. Now it means waking up to completed work that didn't exist when you closed your laptop\.

The shift isn't speed\. It's the decoupling of work from waking hours\.

Your ideas don't have to wait for your calendar to clear\.

I used to end my day with a to\-do list\. Now I end it with a build queue\.

What would you build if you could wake up to finished work? Let's talk\. \-dg
