At one this morning, one of my agents woke up and counted all the others.
Man and Machine: The Roll Call Before Dawn

Oscar ran a roll call of my personal AI workshop: which agents were active, what each was allowed to do, where their work was going, and whether two of them might reach for the same job.
I wanted the plain answer, not another dashboard full of green lights. The check showed that the system was healthy, but the useful part was the map behind it. Every recurring job had a lane, an owner, a source of truth, and a place to leave evidence that the work actually happened. Oscar also checked for conflicts across the agents that help me and my family.
One rule mattered more than the totals. An agent may improve the bounded work it already owns, but it cannot create another recurring job just because it sees an opportunity. It can bring me the idea and the reason. I decide whether we need it.
That is becoming more important as personal AI moves beyond a single chat window. Helpful agents can duplicate work, cross a privacy line, or create noise without looking broken. A simple roll call makes those problems visible before they become habits.
I want my agents to learn and handle more of the routine. Oscar can inspect the system, flag a conflict, and bring me the receipt. But ownership stays personal. I still choose what runs, what stops, and what should remain human.
